Metabolic investigation of segmental overgrowth: new insights in pathogenic mechanisms and treatments

Dr. Luigi Boccuto will review his investigation of the pathogenic mechanisms of segmental overgrowth caused by mosaic mutations in the genes of the PI3K-AKT pathway.  He will describe how Biolog Phenotype MicroArray™ Technology is used to identify new treatment targets and test compounds with potential therapeutic effects.  

Dr. Boccuto is a TEDx Greenville presenter and Research Scientist at Greenwood Genetic Center, which focuses on autism spectrum disorder, intellectual disability, metabolic arrays, and overgrowth conditions. His research is focused on the study of metabolomic profiles applied to several genetic conditions, in order to investigate pathogenic mechanisms, identify molecular biomarkers, and develop novel treatment strategies.
